This is an excellent product. The handle fits in the hand very nicely and is built well, and the grain orientation was perfect on mine. The head is hung exactly how it should be with a nice tight fit. The edge was rather dull and useless out of thebox and smashed more than chopped. The sheath is of good quality and rugged. I really like it.
I put a razor edge on it in short enough order and went camping with my son to test it out as the main axe for the whole camp out. It preformed better than I expected. After two days of some serious use keeping the camp fire well stocked this axe was still just sharp enough to shave with. Granted it dulled obviously and took some painful work to shave with, it was still there edge wise lol,and that included a 10ft long branch of some unknown hard wood (I think it was oak) a good 6 or 8 inches thick and had been completely dried out.
CONS:
My only real complaint with the axe is the big ol lanyard hole. I don't use them, ever, and this one is placed RIGHT under your pinky on the hand. So needless to say I got a wicked blister from that while rubbing my skin raw. I'll be filling that hole with wood putty our epoxy. That's the only reason I gave this axe a 4 star instead of a 5 star. Great little axe that will seriously perform after a proper edge is put on.
