I have two gripes so far (I've only had this a couple days and haven't used it outside the test fit):
First off, handle hole (at the bottom of the sheath) was too small to fit my wood handled hatchet. I expect the same would be true with many of the nylon handled hatchets I've seen (such as from Harbor Freight). It looks like it would have fit one of the metal handled / rubber gripped hatchets you see sometimes). I was able to cut out one of the stitches between rivets, and now it fits.
I don't recall seeing it in the description, but note that this has a wide belt loop, but also has the metal clip to use with the old military belts (ALICE?), that have holes all the way around. I expect I can get that clip out without cutting the sheath, but it would be an uncomfortable hunk of metal digging into your side if you wanted to use this with a standard belt.
It looks very sturdy and was very reasonably priced. I'm not disappointed at all with this worked out.
Solid item.
I gave 5 stars because it will do its job and its only $6. I ordered it on a Friday evening and the USPS delivered it on Sunday morning; I couldn't believe it. I plan to carry my ax one or two times a year so sheath cut through is not that likely. If I were planning to carry and use it everyday, I would get a tougher, leather sheath.
